Super Bowl Sunday will be more about Irish dancing than football for Channing Tatum, he tells PEOPLE

Channing Tatum has something special planned for Super Bowl Sunday.
“I wish I had more elaborate plans for it,” the actor-producer, 44, tells PEOPLE exclusively of Super Bowl LIX, when the Kansas City Chiefs face the Philadelphia Eagles on Feb. 9. “I’m going to be at my daughter’s Irish Celtic dance competition.”
Tatum’s daughter Everly, whom he shares with Step Up costar and ex-wifeJenna Dewan, has followed in her parents’ dancing footsteps. The 11-year-old competes in Irish dance, as evidenced by social media posts from Tatum and Dewan celebrating her wins.
“I think that I’ll be watching Irish Celtic dancing at some hotel somewhere,” continues Tatum of his Super Bowl Sunday plans. Once Everly’s competition is done, he says, “at some point before the game starts, we’ll probably have to find a screen somewhere and just watch it there. So that’s my plan so far.”
During the big game, which airs on FOX, Tatum will be making an appearance by way of a STōK Cold Brew Coffee commercial. Produced by Ryan Reynolds’ company Maximum Effort, the ad features Tatum back in Magic Mike mode, teaching Welsh football team Wrexham AFC — co-owned by Reynolds and Rob McElhenney — celebratory dance moves in their locker room.
As a coffee drinker and fan of European football who “played 10 years of [American] football,” the Blink Twice star says the ad combined several personal interests; Reynolds and McElhenney pitching him resulted in an easy yes. “This is kind of a weird dream come true… I never imagined it would come around like this! But it was so much fun.”
Tatum and Dewan, who finalized their divorce in September 2024, have supported Everly’s various artistic efforts via proud social media posts. Last July, Dewan shared a photo of her posing with her grandmother Nancy Smith at the 2024 North American Irish Dance Championships. Tatum showed off Everly’s drawing skills in an Instagram story in September, writing, “I can’t believe she is this good this young.”
Dewan, 44, is also mom to kids Callum, 4, and Rhiannon, 7 months, whom she shares with fiancé Steve Kazee.
Super Bowl LIX airs Sunday, Feb. 9 on FOX.
